For horse lovers there is nothing better than galloping along the beach and trotting through the woods. With 12000 hectares of nature, polders and villages, Terschelling offers plenty of opportunities to explore the island on horseback. No less than 60 kilometers of bridle paths invite to hours of riding pleasure, most of which are also suitable for horse teams. Only the eastern part, Boschplaat, is not accessible to riders because of its dormant and sensitive flora and fauna.
The combined riding and driving routes, which are suitable for both riders and horse-drawn vehicles, are marked by signposts with a wheel on them. The routes that are only suitable for riders are marked with a horseshoe.
