The Kuiper Brandarisrace is a sailing competition from Harlingen to Terschelling, with traditional sailing ships. Originally it was organized in honor of the 400th anniversary of the Brandaris lighthouse.

When the Brandaris on Terschelling celebrated its 400th anniversary in 1994, Herman Brandsma was asked to organize an event. At the end of the jubilee year, the Brandaris race was organized for the first time with 50 ships, all of which were rented by sponsors. Now the maximum number of ships is limited to 80.

The 31th Kuiper Brandarisrace will take place on October 18 & 19, 20255.
