On Terschelling, many kinds of sports and cultural events are organized throughout the year. The most famous example is of course Oerol, which once started as simple street theater but has grown into one of the largest theater events in Europe. In the third week of June Terschelling serves for ten days as a stage for theater makers, musicians and visual artists from the Netherlands and abroad. The special locations, often in the open air, give the performances a unique atmosphere.

Walking
The Fjoertoer is a good example of an event like Terschelling does. Not just walking, no, Terschelling makes walking a total experience. Partly during the day, partly at night! With the use of beacons of fire and performances, the organization knows how to surprise the participants again and again. But there is more to hiking, for example the popular Christmas hike, or the Brandaris hikes.

Markets and Fairs
In the summer season Terschelling has various flea markets and fairs. In the information paper De Sjouw you will find all the dates, times and locations. De Sjouw is available at the VVV Terschelling and in several bookstores and at hotels and parks.
